In April of 2022, Buena Park School District (BPSD) in Orange County was one of six school districts to receive the 2021-2022 Model SARB Award from the California Department of Education. This presentation will share the story of how BPSD administrators, teachers, staff, and community partners rallied alongside parents and students to re-engage students back into school. Principals will discuss their restorative approach to SART, and unveil how their collaborative conversations with parents assisted students in becoming re-engaged at school, post-Distance Learning. The District will share their emphasis towards supporting family engagement and school connectedness that involved the use of various partners, resources and tools used to support students who struggled with attendance and the interventions BPSD used to develop concrete action plans for students. This was implemented in a small Southern California school district. The process follows a Tier 2 and Tier 3 process to support attendance.
